Sr. Maureen Studer, was born and raised in North Auburn, OH.
She attended St. Francis High School
in Tiffin, and Mary Manse College in Toledo for her B.A. She then attended Rosary College (now called
Dominican University) in River Forest, Illinois, for her Master's degree in library science. Sister Maureen is a
member of the Sisters of St. Francis, in Tiffin. Sister Maureen has been librarian at Calvert for over 21 years.
She coaches the Quiz Bowl team, with help from Mr. Stearns. The Quiz Bowl Team has gone to state twice
(1986,1996) and has been to regionals five times.
Prior to coming to Calvert, Sister was the librarian at Lima Central Catholic (LCC), and then at Toledo
Central Catholic (TCC). Before that she taught in grade schools for 7 years and at St. Mary's High
School in Paducah, Kentucky. She is a volunteer mediator for the Small Claims Court and a
member of the Seneca County Jail Chaplaincy Committee where she serves as secretary. Sister enjoys
reading, sewing, gardening, visiting others, singing in the Heidelberg College Community Chorus,
and the convent's schola. Sister finds that Calvert students enjoy learning and are willing to work despite
obstacles. She wants the students here to remember that she "likes them well enough to stay around for all
these years, and that teenagers are great."
