Advanced Art

Advanced Art is an opportunity for students who have completed Art I, II, or III,

who exhibit a high level of artistic ability, interest and self-discipline. This class will

allow students to build and explore their interest and self-discipline. This class will

allow students to build and explore their interest in art while mastering various techniques,

media and problem solving. Emphasis is placed on the development of personal style

and creative ideas. A high level of self-discipline and responsibility is expected. There will

be an opportunity and requirement for independent course work.

As an Art IV student there will be a specialty project of their choice.
Subject areas may include the following:
* Drawing-Pencil, Pen & Ink, Pastel
* Painting-Tempera, Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil
* Printmaking- Linoleum, Dry-Point
* Sculpture/Ceramics-Plaster, Hand-building, Wood
* Crafts-Fibers, Collage, Papermaking
Evaluation Criteria:
* Class Projects
* Sketchbooks
* Research Paper
* Midterm
* Final
* Participation
* Clean-up Supplies:
* 3-ring binder (1")
* Pencil box
* 2-#2 pencils, 2-black ballpoint pens, eraser
* Sketchbook 9"x12" 50-100 sheets*

*Students may need to supply or purchase supplemental materials for class

General Class Guidelines:
* Be at table ready for prayer when the bell rings
* Put all bags on counter
* Respect classmates' ideas and suggestions
* Be willing to try new ideas
* Respect all others when taking turns to speak
* Think before you speak
* Use all class time wisely
* Always clean up and return all materials when finished
