Music Booster Meeting Minutes

4/12/10

 

Meeting was called to order by President, Barb Goshe at 7:05pm and opened with a prayer. In attendance was B. Goshe, Rick Brodman, Linda Eichhorn, Tracey Schultz, Karyn Abdoo, and Tony Mass.

 

Secretary Report: Minutes from the 3/1/10 meeting were read by B. Goshe. T. Schultz made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by K. Abdoo, motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s Report: L. Eichhorn, Treasurer, presented the treasurer’s report. (See report) Ticket sales from the Musical were approx. $2000.00. A balance in the checking account was $2992.09.

The money market totals were $32.061.00. The CD’s were renewed. A total assets were $32,317.73. Expenses concurred during last month were entry fees for the solo and ensemble participants. R. Brodman made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report; 2nd by T. Schultz; motion passed.

 

Mr. Mass Principal Report:

Mr. Mass made a request to have the Feb. and Mar. Booster meeting minutes be sent to him electronically.

Congratulations were given to K. Abdoo and her staff and students for a fine production of the Musical, “Guy and Dolls” in March. Dates for next year’s musical are in process of being chosen.

There are enough students interested for the piano class for the 2010-2011 school year.

Next year is the year for the choir to plan a trip, if feasible. Regarding the choir trip to Rome in Dec. 2010, the Diocese of Toledo is against students traveling out of the country at this time. Other options will be considered.

Important dates: School starts: Tuesday, August 24, 2010;

Summer Splash: August 11, 2010;

Fall Play: Oct. 30 & 31, 2010.;

Winter Concert: Sun., Dec. 19, 2010;

Spring Concert: Sun., May 15, 2011.

 

Ms. Schultz Band Report:

Pre-Band Camp dates: June 8, 9, & 10, 2010 at Calvert at 3:00P-6:00P

Band Camp: August 2 - 6, 2010 at Calvert at 9:00A-4:00P

Camp Glen: August 9, 10, & 11, 2010 at Camp Glen (overnight)

Band Camp: August 12 & 13, 2010 and August 17 & 19, 2010 at Calvert (shorter rehearsals)

Jr. High Spring Concert at SJC: Mon, May 10th at 7:00pm featuring the grades 5-8 bands and 5/6

Show Choir.

CHS Spring Concert: Sun., May 16th at 7:00pm

CHS Graduation: Sun., May 30th at 2:00pm

Memorial Day Parade: Mon., May 31st; the 7th graders will be invited to march with the High School band

A letter was sent home to parents regarding all of the above dates upcoming.


It was suggested that Music Awards be given at a separate night from the CHS Awards night but

it will remain with the regularly scheduled CHS Awards Night on Tuesday, May 11th.

 

Mrs. Abdoo Choir Report:

Bills from the musical were submitted to the treasurer: Lowe’s for lumber for set construction;

Tiffin Ace Hardware for return postage for UPS shipping to return the backdrops & scripts

Payment for the Pit Crew members for the musical was discussed: $250.00 for the pianist; $50.00 for Hannah Mathias, returning alumni; Service Hours will be granted for the current CHS students. Seth Innis, musical director, will be compensated through Mrs. Abdoo stipend for the musical as well as the choreographer.

Jr. High Solo Ensemble at Seneca East on March 27, 2010 had nice representation: 1  receiving a 3 rating; 5 receiving 2 ratings and 1 receiving a 1 rating

8th Grade Play, “High School Musical”, will be May 20th.

MMM National Honor Musical Induction will be Mon., May 3rd at CHS.

Old Business:

Seneca Card Sales update: Total sales to date: $1290.00. Student sales are to be finished at the end of this week. Campus sales will continue. Each Music Booster Board Member  received one card free in recognition of their commitment to serve.

Receipt of money earned from the football play needs to be looked into as no check has been received yet.

The Music Booster Ad for the yearbook needs to have follow up as no one has made further contact with the Music Booster Board.

Music Booster Membership Drive was discussed and it was decided to kick it off in Oct. 2010.

 

New Business:

Music Awards for CHS Awards Night will be taken care of by T. Schultz and K. Abdoo.

Hilary Myers has informed the CMB that she is stepping down from her roll as CMB Secretary. It was discussed whether to fill this position for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year. It was decided that current board members will pick up the duties of the secretary for the reminder of this year until new elections are made for the 2010-2011 school year.
